CONFESSION
"Vivienne calls me 'The Black Widow' - little does she realise how close to the truth she is. I have always thought; when one has married a man, what use is he alive? When he could be much more useful dead. You see, like the Black Widow, I have been disposing of my husbands once their usefulness has run out, and moved on to the next. I've been doing this for quite a while; and nobody ever suspected a thing - until recently of course. Unfortunately, David Black was a very close friend of my last husband, Jack Peacock. When I 'helped Jack on his way' 8 months ago, David was distraught. He couldn't understand why a healthy man would suddenly keel over with a heart attack. He started to get suspicious - especially when he found out that Vivienne's father had also died the same way.
When David said at the end of dinner that he had an announcement to make, I started to get worried. What if he'd managed to find some evidence that I'd killed Jack? When Blanche told me in the lounge that he'd been asking her things about Jack's death, I decided I wasn't going to risk it any longer.
After she had left me alone, I got my dagger out of the cabinet (it didn't take me very long) and went off to find Black. I could hear Blanche moving around in the dining room and didn't want to risk her seeing me leave the lounge - so I took the secret passage from the lounge to the conservatory. I think I may have dropped my shawl in there as I realised I didn't have it later on. As I coming out of the conservatory door, I saw Vivienne and Peter speaking outside the Study; and I heard Vivienne tell him to go to the conservatory. I couldn't have them seeing me, so I dashed into the Ball Room to wait for them to go.
I never would have guessed that David himself would walk in. He said that he had heard Professor Plum and Vivienne outside the study, being threatening - so he took the other secret passage from the Study to the Kitchen, and came into the Ball Room to get away from them.
I confronted him and he told me that he'd found a letter of Jack's. Apparently Jack suspected that I was trying to poison him and so wrote a note revealing all in case I succeeded. Black was going to tell everyone what I'd done and have me put away for my actions. I said I'd never let him do that - so he pulled out his revolver from his jacket pocket to make sure I didn't try anything. Unfortunately for him, he didn't watch me close enough. He looked away for a second so I grabbed my opportunity. I knocked the gun out of his hand and we both scrambled for it. Luckily for me - I won.
After I'd dumped his body in the cellar, I was putting my dagger away in my coat pocket when Vivienne turned up and told me she'd been waiting for Black in the study. That's when I realised I could 'kill two birds with one stone' as it were. I told her I was going to find Michael in the Billiard Room; but instead, I put the revolver back in David' desk in the Study, so it would look like Vivienne had done it.
I would have got away with it as well - if it hadn't have been for you..."
